What We Believe

We are a Bible-Based church:

We believe that the Bible is inspired by God and is, therefore, totally true and trustworthy. It is given by God to his people as the authoritative standard for our lives and worship.

We are a Gospel-Centred church:

We believe that the gospel is the good news of what God has accomplished through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Regarding human salvation, we believe that Jesus lived a substitutionary righteous life and died a substitutionary punishment-bearing death, in the place of all who place faith in him, accomplishing our salvation. We want to keep the person and work of Jesus central in everything that we do.

We are a Maturity-Focused church:

We believe that it is important for Christians to grow spiritually after initially placing faith in Jesus, conforming more and more to the moral character of Jesus. This is not merely an independent project, but it involves meaningful participation in Christian community.

We are a Mission-Minded church:

We believe that God has given his people the mission of spreading the gospel throughout the whole world. We want to do what we can to spread the gospel throughout our city, our country, and throughout the whole world.

That should give you a feel for what we believe, but here is a more thorough explanation of our beliefs as described in our Constitution in case you'd like to know more:

"This church accepts the Bible as its supreme and complete authority in all matters of doctrine and practice. However, since there is widespread disagreement about what the Bible actually teaches, we also generally accept and hold to 'The 1644 Baptist Confession of Faith' as an excellent summary of the basic teachings of the Bible. We do not accept this confession as infallible and authoritative rule of faith on par with the Bible, but as an anchor and help in theological controversy."
